The Centre for Health Protection is also investigating five new imported cases of new coronary pneumonia. So far, there have been 12,556 cases in Hong Kong. A total of 72 cases have been reported in the past 14 days, all of which are imported cases.

Four of the new cases were imported cases, and one was an epidemiologically related case to the imported case, all involving the N501Y+T478K mutant virus strain.

The case involved two men and three women, aged 20 to 64 years old.

Among the imported cases, one person arrived in Hong Kong from a designated area in Group A (high risk) for enhanced monitoring, and the other three arrived in Hong Kong from a designated area in Group A (high risk).

The two tested positive at the airport when they arrived in Hong Kong, and the two were diagnosed during the quarantine period.

One case (12557), which was epidemiologically related to the imported case, lived in On Hei House, Siu Hei Court, Tuen Mun. He worked as a cleaner in a toilet at the airport waiting to be sent to the hospital for a preliminary confirmed imported case. He has not travelled recently.

She developed cough, sore throat, and fatigue on December 22, with a Ct value of less than 30.

The center will do further genetic analysis and genetic comparison of imported cases with N501Y and T478K mutations recently diagnosed in Hong Kong.

Since the patient may carry the Omicron mutant virus strain, the center will take the most stringent prevention and control measures to encrypt the number of mandatory tests for people living in the same building or working in the building in which the case is living.
