The president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, accepted the resignation of the Minister of Education, Carlos Gallardo, who was censored this week by the Congress of the Republic, according to a resolution that was published this Friday in the Norms bulletin Legal of the Official Gazette El Peruano.
The document resolves: "Accept the resignation that Mr. Carlos Alfonso Gallardo Gómez formulates as Minister of State in the Office of Education, thanking him for the services rendered to the Nation."
The Peruvian Congress approved Gallardo's censorship on Tuesday with 70 votes in favor, 38 against and 3 abstentions.
The minister was harshly criticized by opposition parliamentarians for his political activity linked, according to the approved motion of censure, to extreme left groups, in addition to allegedly having leaked responses to teacher evaluation tests.

In a press conference this Monday, in relation to the accusation of having leaked the exams, Gallardo said that "I do not believe it is fair to assume a guilt that I do not have."
In statements to the press, Gallardo also assured that he did not belong to Patria Roja and denied being a leader of the National Federation of Education Workers.
