Maria Thalheim - Everyone felt at home with him: The Maria Thalheimers liked to meet in Peregrin Stulberger's inn.

Now they are mourning the popular landlord who died at the age of 74.

He liked the people who came to his tavern, and the people liked him.

The associations of the community went in and out of him, celebrated their victories here or met for meetings.

He was also a member of many local associations.

Peregrin Stulberger, who has been in retirement since 2018, has now died at the age of 74.

He leaves behind his wife Ingrid (72), who ran the cozy local gastronomy with him, and three children.

“Alongside the pilgrimage church, the inn is the second most important institution in Maria Thalheim.” This is how Mayor Hans Wiesmaier paid tribute to the innkeepers Stulberger in his laudation in 2006 and awarded them the community award “Der Fraunberger”. On this occasion, this restaurant was described as a “place of diverse encounters, cosiness and rustic cosiness”, as “a genuinely social institution of the highest order”. According to Wiesmaier, this was a place that not only the people of Thalheim would have liked to visit, but also many pilgrims from abroad.

This achievement by Peregrin Stulberger is all the more remarkable given that he initially made a completely different career choice. He grew up in Maria Thalheim with his two half-sisters Rosa and Anna, both of whom have already passed away. First he attended the local school and then went to Altenerding to complete a three-year apprenticeship in a butcher's shop. However, he did not stay in this job for long; instead, he worked for a local company as a bus driver.

When his mother Anna died in 1974, his father handed the restaurant over to his son with the same first name as he. Two years earlier, Peregrin had met his wife Ingrid from Lüß near Niederneuching, who first worked in a farm and later as a seamstress in Moosinning. They had three children: son Christian (49), daughter Silvia (42) and son Stefan (38). All of them have long been in a relationship themselves and live in neighboring towns, and three grandchildren are also part of the family.

In 1979, Peregrin and Ingrid Stulberger remodeled their dining room and in 2006 they renewed the kitchen.

Because in addition to running the inn, they provided local companies and a school canteen in Erding with food for a number of years.

Nevertheless, remembers widow Ingrid, her husband still had time to actively participate in footballers and shooters.

He was also a member of the fire brigade and the fishermen, always did a lot of sport: "He was a very good skier and ski jumper, even tried flying a paraglider." Health fought.

On Monday, December 27th, Peregrin Stulberger will be buried in his hometown.

The funeral service begins at 2 p.m. in Maria Thalheim.
