This year, too, the ski areas cannot go without Corona rules.
What winter sports enthusiasts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland & Co. have to pay attention to.
For a long time it looked as if skiing would be largely carefree again in the winter season 2021/22.
But rising incidence figures in Germany * and Austria have thwarted the plans again.
Where skiing is still allowed, strict corona measures usually apply.
You can read about them here.
Skiing in Germany: These corona rules currently apply
In principle, the 3G rule applies in Germany in the 2021/22 ski season - only those who have been vaccinated, recovered or tested have access to the cable cars.
This does not apply to children under the age of six or schoolchildren.
In the lifts there is also a mask requirement and a distance requirement.
However, since some federal states have tightened their measures, the same rules do not apply across the board.
In
Bavaria
, for example, the introduction of the 2G-plus rule for cable cars was planned.
Due to massive protests from the tourism industry, it should now stay with 2G.
In addition, the
capacities are limited to a maximum of 25 percent
of the passengers.
In
Baden-Württemberg
, the current infection rate has also meant that the 2G-plus rule has been in place in ski areas since December 4th.
This means that here, too, cable cars are only allowed to be used by people with a proof of vaccination or convalescence and a negative test.
In
Thuringia
So far, however, a 3G rule is still planned that will also grant access to unvaccinated people with a negative test.
Ski vacation in Austria 2021/22: What is currently valid
Austria's nationwide lockdown has been over since December 12th. During this time, however, skiing was still allowed as part of a sporting activity - and it is even after the lockdown. Access to the cable cars is only possible with
proof of vaccination or health history
. There is no need for an additional test; children under the age of 12 are completely exempt from the 2G rule. Ski vacationers must, however,
wear
an
FFP2 mask
in the cabins
. There is also a general ban on après-ski. Hotels are now allowed to open again under a 2G regulation and with an FFP2 mask requirement in all accessible areas. It should also be noted that since December 6th, only vaccination certificates that are not older than 270 days are accepted.
Since Austria is a
high-risk
area, those returning to Germany usually have to expect more stringent measures when entering Germany.
However, the situation is somewhat different for day trips: Anyone who has been in a high-risk area for less than 24 hours does not have to complete the digital entry registration and there is also no quarantine requirement.
However, those affected must have a 3G certificate.

Stricter rules apply in these countries.
Skiing in Switzerland: Currently loose corona rules
So far, Switzerland has
not imposed a 3G obligation
for access to cable cars and the like.
Therefore, the ski operation is open to everyone.
The Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) points out, however, that a mask is required in closed mountain railways and cable cars as well as in ski lifts and chairlifts and in the closed station buildings, waiting areas and at the sales points for lift tickets.
In addition, all persons over the age of 16
who
want to enter
an
indoor area of the restaurant must
present a 3G certificate.
However, you should still
pay
attention to the regulations of the individual ski areas: In
Samnaun
, for example, winter
holidaymakers
must bring proof of 2G, as the ski area is linked to the Austrian Ischgl.
In addition, from the perspective of the federal government, Switzerland is a
high-risk area
.
Day trippers are exempt from reporting and quarantine on return, but need a 3G certificate.
In addition, according to the BAG, stricter rules now apply when entering Switzerland: Accordingly, all people, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or recovered, must be able to present a negative PCR test.
Only day trippers residing in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg are exempt from the test requirement.
An entry registration is also not required.

Holidays in Italy: what applies to ski areas in South Tyrol
There is currently a 3G regulation in the ski areas in Italy. The obligation to provide evidence applies to all persons over the age of 12 - this can be presented in the form of a
green passport or a digital COVID certificate from the EU
. Closed gondola lifts may not be occupied more than 80 percent, open chair lifts 100 percent. All winter sports enthusiasts aged six and over are required to wear a mask. In addition, a safe distance from other guests must be maintained.
If you are currently planning a skiing holiday in South Tyrol, you should keep yourself up to date on the local situation.
The number of corona cases is also rising again in Italy, which could lead to tightening of the measures.
As soon as a province is declared an orange zone, the 2G rule applies to it.
If they are classified as a red zone, the cable cars must close.
Corona rules for the 2021/22 ski season in France
In France, the
3G rule will
initially apply
in ski areas.
In addition, people aged eleven and over must wear a mask in cable cars.
As for entry, unvaccinated individuals must present a negative PCR test that is 24 hours old or less.
