With the participation of about 34 children and young people with disabilities, the Al-Rajaa Association for People with Special Needs held a celebration on the occasion of the International Day of the Disabled and the anniversary of Aleppo's victory over terrorism at the association's headquarters in Aleppo.
The celebration included a singing choir, a theatrical scene, artistic dance performances, poetry recitation by children with disabilities, and a presentation of a short documentary film highlighting the history of the association, which was launched since 2001.
The Director of Social Affairs and Labor Saleh Barakat said in a statement to SANA reporter that the celebration reinforces the importance of the role of the disabled in society and stresses the need to take care of them, especially since the Al-Rajaa Association is one of the oldest associations in the city of Aleppo, in addition to its role in caring for the disabled and providing them with support.
Fatima Babli, Director-General of the Association, indicated that the celebration included various types of motor and mental disabilities, autism, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy to emphasize their will by participating in the celebration and evidence of their possession of distinct skills that enabled them to stand on the stage and present artistic paragraphs, pointing to the association's keenness to develop the talents of all disabilities in Association to be active members of society.
Abdul Qadir, the Secretary-General of the Disability Sub-Council in Aleppo, indicated that the technical paragraphs presented by people with disabilities are a message to the world that they have strong determination and are capable of creativity in all artistic, cultural and sports fields.
Engineer Haitham Sabbagh, head of the Union of Charitable Societies in Aleppo, spoke about the great role of the association in upgrading the skills and capabilities of people with disabilities and caring for them through training and qualifying them to be a model of the will.
