The indicator for new corona infections in North Rhine-Westphalia has again fallen below the 200 mark.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported a seven-day incidence of 198.9 on Saturday after 209.6 the previous day.

However, the RKI points out that less test and reporting activity can be expected during the holidays and at the turn of the year.

Düsseldorf - That is why the officially reported number of cases could only show an incomplete picture of the corona situation.

Nationwide, the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Christmas Day was 242.9 and thus further higher than in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The NRW health authorities reported 4675 new corona cases within 24 hours, 15 people died from or with the virus during the period.

The Lippe district continues to have the highest incidence with 310.7.

This is followed by the Oberbergische Kreis (279.0) and Remscheid (278.0).

It continued to look best in Olpe (90.7), it is the only one of 53 districts in North Rhine-Westphalia with an incidence below 100.

The NRW state government does not publish any new data over Christmas and refers to the uncertain reporting situation in the health authorities.

That also causes criticism.

“The data report from the municipalities would not provide a complete analysis picture.

That's why there is this break that you know from weekends, "said Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) in Essen.

He could understand the criticism, but: "The numbers would be more than incomplete, so they would not make sense." Dpa
