Kenitra-SANA
The area of land planted with wheat (baal and irrigated) in Quneitra amounted to 2574 hectares out of the total plan amounting to 9695 hectares, in addition to the cultivation of 1439 hectares of rainfed barley from the entire plan planned for the current season, 3400 hectares, according to the director of its cultivation, Engineer Ahmed Theeb.
Theeb said in a statement to SANA that the reason for the low rate of implementation of the plan for planting wheat and barley crops this season was the delay in rainfall, pointing out that all the plan's requirements, including fuel, seeds and fertilizers, were secured in coordination with the concerned authorities in the governorate.
The directorate continues to distribute the grant of the Red Cross and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, amounting to 400 tons of sterilized and sifted wheat seeds, and 300 tons of fertilizer, which targets 2,000 farmers in the governorate.
The Director of Agriculture pointed out that the governorate exceeded the completion of its plan of winter vegetables, as the cultivated areas reached 153 hectares, while the plan was 113 hectares, or 135 percent, while 1795 hectares were planted with winter fodder crops out of the total plan of 2309 hectares, or 78 percent.
