Today, the Hama Agriculture Directorate launched a afforestation campaign in the mountain forests in Ain Halaqim in the western Hama countryside, where 37,000 plants of various forest types were planted over the next three weeks.
Hama Agriculture Director Sami Abu Dan said in a statement to SANA reporter that the plants that are being planted include various types of forest trees suitable for the area, such as oaks, oaks, eucalyptus, carob and pine, in order to compensate for the forest wealth in Ain Halaqim, which was destroyed by fire during the summer season of last year.
The Director of Agriculture indicated that the afforestation campaign aims to rehabilitate the areas affected by the fires, with an area of about 84 hectares, by planting them in various plants, taking care of them, raising them and watering them for a period of one year in order to adapt to the nature of the area and be able to grow in the coming years.
Rasha Deeb, a resident of Ain Halaqim, who participated in the campaign, pointed out the importance of the campaign and its positive repercussions in reviving the forest wealth in the region, rehabilitating green spaces and gradually restoring forests to their usual density over the coming years.
The Governor of Hama, Engineer Muhammad Tariq Krishati, and Secretary of the Hama Branch of the Baath Party, Engineer Ashraf Bashauri, participated in the campaign, as well as official and civil events.
