Historical association: cultural reading material for the Christmas season

Erding - The annual journal of the Erding Historical Association is traditionally presented at the annual general meeting.

This year, the meeting that was always held at the beginning of December had to be canceled.

"We are so sorry, because the cooperation in the historical association is very important and there are always more than 100 of the 420 members at the annual meetings with Advent celebrations," explains association chairman Dr.

Heike Kronseder.

"It is very festive every year, people chat and celebrate together." All of this failed in 2021. However, there is still a “Annual Bulletin 2021”. It is almost 90 pages long and contains various articles about Erding's city history. The activities of the association in 2021 are also noted in it. "Despite the pandemic, some nice events were possible this year and we were able to offer people culture and art enjoyment, even if not to the usual extent," said Kronseder. "We are now pleased to be able to offer the citizens cultural reading material for the Christmas holidays in the form of the annual publication".

A long article by Michael Lang deals with the history of the Kunstverein Erding.

This year it celebrated its 40th anniversary and once emerged from the “Colorful Circle”.

A club's history is always part of the town's and citizen's history and so the colorful and numerous events of the Kunstverein Erding, naming the actors as part of the cultural scene in Erding, as well as many images from decades of history, represent an important piece of the mosaic in Erding's cultural history.

Another article by Rudolf Koller deals with the baroque masterpiece of the parish church Mariae Heimsuchung in Bockhorn.

Photographer Robert Braun illustrated the church's history with many photographs and captured the beauty of the Bockhorn Church.

Giulio Salvati presents the online archive on Nazi history in the Erding district in the 2021 annual publication. "Why an online archive on Nazi history in the Erding district?" Is the title of the important contribution.

Heike Kronseder wrote about the air raid shelter in the garden of the Stahl family's former home and studio. Thanks to Franz Xaver Stahl's love of the garden, the 1000 square meter garden plot with fruit trees and rose beds in Landshuter Strasse was never built on, so the air raid shelter, which meanders underground from the house into the garden, has been preserved in its original form. Stahl was the owner of the house with the garden from 1952 and from this time used the air raid shelter as a vegetable, fruit and coal cellar. The air raid shelter, in which many Erdinger citizens sought and found shelter during World War II, including during the bombing on April 18, 1945, is one of the few boiler bunker systems in Germany and is probably the most pristine preserved.The “authentic place” in the history of Erdingen was built by the house owner Ursula Stahl in the late 30s and still poses a number of puzzles.
