Hong Kong media said on December 24 that the US government is submitting a three-month visa application to China for 18 officials. These 18 US officials will attend the Beijing Winter Olympics to provide so-called "security support operations."
The Hong Kong media quoted two sources and related documents as saying that there were 18 US officials in the visa application.
Fifteen of them work in the U.S. State Department and one in the Department of Defense. The purpose of the application is to provide so-called "security support operations."
It is worth mentioning that most of these 15 people are middle and low-level officials, but the US disclosed that it may submit visa applications for another 40 officials to China in the coming months.
