A housewife discovered a canister in the forest - the contents put the fire brigade and police in front of an unsolved mystery over the Christmas period.
Miesbach / Hausham - Well-packed items of unknown content are a good tradition at Christmas - but in a completely different form than when a housewife found something during the stale time.
Miesbach / Hausham: Woman finds canisters in the forest - the content also puzzles the fire brigade
The woman had found a canister in the forest on Haushamer Gindelalmstrasse, as the Miesbach police station announced on Saturday. The content: "A clear liquid that smelled strongly of chemicals". Originally, the finder wanted to bring the canister for professional disposal and temporarily stored it in her garage, as it was called. But when the fire brigade moved a few doors down for an operation on Christmas Day, the woman asked the emergency services for advice - and thus puzzled them too.
Because even the fire fighters could not identify the liquid.
After securing the canister, "they examined it for escaping and possibly harmful gases".
Finally they called the police for help - after all, the officers and the fire brigade were able to refute an initial suspicion together: those "that the unknown liquid could be alcohol and thus a black fire," as the Miesbach police explained.
Hausham: Police secure mysterious canister - and warn polluters and finders
According to the information, the canister has now been secured for the time being.
However, the police had two good pieces of advice ready - to potential polluters and to well-meaning finders: For example, "criminal proceedings
relating to
the
unauthorized handling of waste have been
initiated
against the owner of the can
," as the police emphasized.
At the same time, however, unknown substances are not to be trifled with: “It is urgently pointed out that if unknown and potentially harmful substances are found, they should not be removed or moved without authorization.
The fire brigade should be notified via the emergency number 110 or 112. "(
