Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov reiterated that Russia has no aggressive plans.
"Russia has never taken the initiative to attack anyone," Peskov said in statements to Russia 1 TV channel, when asked if Moscow was considering possible steps against other countries.
Peskov had previously confirmed that the allegations about Russia's plans to invade Ukraine were baseless and aimed at escalating the situation.
However, Peskov did not rule out the possibility of provocations in order to justify these allegations, warning that attempts to resolve the crisis by force in the Donbass region would have dire consequences.
The United States is leading a Western political and propaganda campaign accusing Russia of massing its forces on the border with Ukraine in order to justify NATO's eastward expansion and the deployment of nuclear missiles close to the Russian border.
