An artificial surf wave is to be built in Wolfratshausen.

The mayor and city manager have already announced an opening date.

Wolfratshausen - In the last session of this year, the city council made a far-reaching decision: Another 172,000 euros will be made available for the artificial surf wave planned in Weidach (we reported).

In return, the surf club has undertaken to repay the money to the municipality in the form of a "surplus distribution" in installments.

In a “circular at the turn of the year”, Wolfratshausen's city manager Dr.

Stefan Werner that the project will be continued.

With the new surf wave, a great meeting place is being created in the middle of our city for athletes and spectators.

Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner

The construction project will cost almost 970,000 euros. In addition, there are additional costs for the steel shaft construction, which have not yet been publicly quantified. So far there has been talk of a “usable offer” amounting to 225,000 euros. The surf club wants to shoulder the additional costs. City manager Werner quotes Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner in the circular with the words: "With the new surf wave, a great meeting place will be created in the middle of our city for athletes and spectators." , the raft town is "the ideal home for this fascinating sport".

According to Werner, the plans for the wave “are now moving into the next service phase”.

Heilinglechner expects the project to begin and be completed in 2022, the town hall chief said in an interview with our newspaper.

This tight schedule is made possible due to the latest city council resolution, but “all the necessary permits have also been obtained,” said city manager Werner in his circular.

Surfwelle: The client is the city of Wolfratshausen

The next step is the tender. The client is the city, and the surf club will operate the surf wave. Werner agrees with his employer: "The shaft will probably be opened to the public after a trial run at the end of summer 2022". "In Wolfratshausen, the surf wave is an attractive and innovative recreational sports facility," says Werner. “State-of-the-art technology ensures the perfect wave.” Not to be forgotten: “Sustainability plays a major role in the project.” According to the city manager, the heart of the system will be the wave system from the manufacturer “Dreamwave”. A similar construction is also used in the surf wave projects in Nuremberg (permanent wave) and Hanover (leash wave).

Surfing “is becoming an increasingly popular sport and is now even Olympic,” emphasizes the city manager.

The “trend sport project”, which started eight years ago in the Loisach city, found “many supporters” from the start.

Werner recalls the so-called crowdfunding campaigns of the surf club.

To date, the surfers have collected around 125,000 euros in donations for the construction project.

City manager solicits support for the wave

Werner admits: "The project can still use energetic and financial support in order to master the next steps up to implementation." The city manager assures entrepreneurs who now want to become active as sponsors that "the project will be implemented". He points out different options to give the project additional wings: "As a cooperation partner for the surfing business, as a donor for investment measures, as a club member or through volunteer work." Contact “Surfing Wolfratshausen”, Stefanie Kastner. (cce)
