The United Nations General Assembly thwarted the Israeli occupation's attempt to obstruct the work of the investigation committee set up by the Human Rights Council to look into the violations it committed against the Palestinians since last April.

Wafa news agency reported that the General Assembly won victory for Palestine after it thwarted the occupation's attempt to cancel the budget approval of the Investigation Committee, which was adopted by the Fifth Committee entrusted with responsibilities related to administration and budget issues in the General Assembly.

And 125 countries voted against the occupation proposal, which received the support of only 8 votes, including the United States and the occupation entity.

The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, confirmed that the occupation suffered another defeat in addition to its many defeats in the current session of the General Assembly, expressing his thanks to the Assembly for passing all budgets related to programs related to the Palestinian cause, including increasing the budget of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

On the 27th of last May, the United Nations Human Rights Council adopted a resolution providing for the formation of an independent and permanent international commission of inquiry to look into violations of international humanitarian law and human rights violations committed in the occupied Palestinian territories since last April and to make a recommendation to end impunity for such crimes.
