Five things you did not know about cats (Walla! News system)

Does your cat ignore you when you are sad?

Does he like to play with mice or dead cockroaches?

He may be a little (or a lot) psychopathic and now there is also a way to know if your cat is suffering from a lack of empathy or if he is actually a lump of happiness and joy of life.

A group of scientists from John Morse University in Liverpool and the University of Liverpool, both in the UK, have teamed up to build a questionnaire that can be used to know if your cat has psychopathic characteristics.

In a test published in the Personality Research Monthly, there are 46 statements or questions and cat owners should give a score of 1 to 5 on how accurate they are about their cat - such as "my cat hunts its prey quickly", "my cat makes loud noises for no apparent reason "," My cat gets excited easily "," My cat torments its prey instead of killing it right away "," My cat gurgles when it attacks humans or animals "and more.

The researchers measured five causes of "feline psychopathy": boldness, malice, lack of inhibition, lack of friendliness to other pets, and lack of friendliness toward humans.

The results examine how much your cat likes to be abused, how much empathy he has and how much aggression he shows.

They also check for the cat's lack of inhibition ', which indicates behavioral restraint problems, and the' boldness', which can be characterized by low levels of fear and social dominance.

The experts behind the study who published the full online questionnaire argue that it is likely that all cats will have some element of psychopathy in their personality.

Chief researcher Rebecca Evans said: "We believe that in every personality structure there is some level of a certain psychopathy, and in some cats it will be more pronounced than in others. This is because the fathers of these cats needed this element to hunt for food and reproduce."

Evans claims these results will help veterinarians or cat owners identify the behavior and help them improve the animal.

"For example a cat that is found brave in a test can enjoy more cat trees and tall toys because it teaches it that it likes to climb and look for things," Evans explained.
