After the Corona summit, nationwide tightening of rules are due.

The Bavarians also have to adjust to tougher measures - and that already before New Year's Eve.

Munich - On Tuesday (December 21), the federal and state governments again held a Corona summit to discuss stricter measures.

Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) had already announced after a cabinet meeting in the morning that Bavaria would not go any separate way this time.

He expects "hardly" changes to the rules in the Free State, as Bavaria is already following a stricter course than most of the other federal states.

However, some things will change - and already for New Year's Eve.

After the Corona summit: This new regulation will also apply to Bavaria - change for children

At the MPK on Tuesday they agreed on tougher measures in the fight against Corona. Clubs and discos have to close nationwide, ghost games are being introduced and there is a ban on gatherings on New Year's Eve - you can find an overview of the new resolutions here. All of this already applies in the Free State. For the time being, nothing will change for the Bavarians for Christmas (here you can find an overview of the current rules). From December 28th, however, there will also be a tough rule change in the Free State, which the federal and state governments have agreed on at the MPK: contact restrictions for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered. So there is no New Year's Eve party after all.

A maximum number of people then applies to private meetings.

Regardless of whether the people have been vaccinated or have recovered.

Only ten people are allowed to come together inside and outside.

Children under the age of 14 are excluded.

Bavaria has so far followed a stricter path in this regard and has only exempted children up to twelve years and three months from the rules.

This time the Free State would like to remain uniform nationwide.

For the unvaccinated, the following applies: Only meetings with your own household and two other people are allowed.

Despite contact restrictions after Christmas: Söders New Year's Eve easing remains

After a cabinet meeting on December 14th, Söder recently announced new regulations for Bavaria.

Among other things, that boosted people will be exempted from the additional test obligation (2G-plus) in many areas in the future.

In addition, the state government relaxed the 2G-plus regulation in outdoor areas.

Since then, zoos, amusement parks and outdoor sports facilities can be visited again without a negative rapid test.

The most surprising relaxation: On New Year's Eve, there is no curfew in the catering trade.

Means: The New Year celebration does not have to end at 10 p.m. in restaurants.

Now you can "meet longer," said Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) after the cabinet meeting on December 14th.

Despite the newly resolved contact restrictions, this relaxation remains in place.

In Berlin, the restaurants will also remain open on New Year's Eve.

There is generally no curfew there.

The new mayor of Berlin, Franziska Giffey (SPD), asked in today's journal why restaurants can be filled with 50 people but a private New Year's Eve party is banned.

"We know that infections are particularly high in the private sector," said the SPD politician.

In restaurants you have to show your vaccination certificate, there are controls, not in private.

Therefore, the contact restrictions are very important there so that New Year's Eve parties cannot take place.

“There is no time for that,” she says, explaining her decision.
