Brussels, SANA-

Thousands of people demonstrated in Brussels today to protest against the decision of the Belgian authorities to close performance halls to limit the spread of the Omicron mutant caused by the emerging corona virus.

And Agence France-Presse reported that thousands of demonstrators gathered in Konings Plain Square in the Museum District in the Belgian capital and carried banners denouncing the new closure measure taken by the government last Wednesday, noting that some put carnival masks in an atmosphere that gathered French and Dutch speakers.

Officials at major cultural institutions in Brussels called on politicians to reconsider the closure decision to combat the spread of the highly contagious "Omicron" mutant.

According to the latest toll issued by the Belgian Ministry of Health, the total number of injuries in the country reached two million and 38,111 injuries, while the total number of deaths reached 28,149 cases.
