The egg growers in the north are demonstrating today (Sunday) in front of the cabinet meeting convening in Mevo Hama in the Golan Heights, under the headline: "Israel is disengaging from the Galilee."
The demonstration is in protest of the decision of the Ministers of Finance and Agriculture to cancel the planning in the laying industry and open the market for the import of duty-free eggs.
Meanwhile, the egg growers fried eggs for the government ministers and implored them: "Do not give a hand in eliminating the settlement on the Lebanese border."
The headquarters of the egg breeders' struggle claim that these measures will lead to the closure of hundreds of chicken coops and will cause the loss of the main source of livelihood for the residents of the fence settlements and the destruction of settlement on the Lebanese border.
The growers also claim that the poultry industry regulations laid down by Agriculture Minister Oded Forer on the Knesset's Economics Committee's table last week are an attempt by the minister to dismantle the planning from within, after the deputy attorney general made it clear to him that canceling the planning was illegal.
The egg growers are harshly critical of the government which only a few years ago, announced a reform to establish advanced chicken coops and now, after investing millions of shekels, the entire investment will go down the drain and they will be left with millions of shekels invested by the state.
According to Yoav Cohen, 46, an egg breeder and chairman of the Cooperative Association in Moshav Netua: "Minister Forer has increased the quota for egg production to 3 billion eggs, even though only 2.3 billion eggs are consumed in Israel each year. A minister who declares one day a decision to cancel the planning does not distribute new and unnecessary production quotas the next day - unless he intends to flood the market with eggs and cause us huge losses. The minister also declares that he intends to eliminate hundreds of chicken coops. We want to be erased after 70 years of settlement on the Lebanese border. "
Baruch Lagziel, 49, an egg grower from Moshav Even Menachem, added: "Lieberman wants to eliminate our livelihood, eliminate our chicken coops and bring eggs from Turkey and Ukraine. We have been raising eggs here for 60 years and this is the main livelihood of most Lebanese residents. "Livelihood, there will be no reason for the residents to stay here. Israel is disengaging from the Galilee - this will be the second disengagement. We are going to war today over the home - for us, for our children and especially for our parents."
