A New Hampshire woman returned from Europe with gifts worth more than $ 3,000, but she got a bad surprise when she got to the airport.

The contents of his suitcase were missing: instead he found dog food.

“There was a leather jacket that I had bought for my 16-year-old son,” lamented Gina Sheldon of Portsmouth.

"I had bought these very nice leather bags to give to various family and friends," he said.

"When it went through the scanner it looked like a real baggage item," he said of the items that ended up in his suitcase.

Sheldon booked his flight through Delta Air Lines but it was operated by Air France.

"We apologize for this customer's experience following Air France Flight 334," Delta said in a statement.

"We have affirmatively connected with our Air France partners and the customer to find a solution."
