At about 11 am today (26th), the local police received a notification from the mainland authorities that a mainland fishing boat caught fire in mainland waters near the eastern waters of Hong Kong and 10 people fell into the sea, seeking assistance from the Hong Kong authorities. At about 11 am today (26th), the local police received a notification from the mainland authorities that a mainland fishing boat caught fire in mainland waters near the eastern waters of Hong Kong and 10 people fell into the sea, seeking assistance from the Hong Kong authorities.

It is understood that the mainland search and rescue personnel have rescued 7 people, and the Hong Kong Government Flying Service assisted in the rescue of 1 person. After the victim was sent ashore by helicopter, the victim was taken by ambulance to Ruttonjee Hospital. Two people are missing, and search and rescue are still ongoing.


At 11:10 this morning, a mainland fishing boat caught fire in inland waters about 5 nautical miles east of Saigon. The Government Flying Service was called by the Hong Kong Maritime Rescue Coordination Center and dispatched three H175 helicopters and a challenge. 605 fixed-wing aircraft went to assist.

As the fishing boat entered the water and was in danger of sinking, the crew decided to abandon the boat and escape.

The wind speed at the scene was reported to be 20 kilometers per hour, the waves were 4 meters, and the water temperature was 20 degrees Celsius.

The fishing boat originally carried 10 crew members. 7 crew members were first rescued by the rescue boat. The Government Flying Service was sent to search for the remaining 3 missing crew members.

The first H175 helicopter of the Government Flying Service arrived at the scene at 11:50 to confirm the location of the ship involved; the Challenger 605 fixed-wing aircraft also arrived at the scene at 11:52 to start searching.

Helicopter rescue personnel found a crew member floating in the big waves at 12:05. The crew immediately lifted him onto the helicopter and gave first aid to the crew member who was in a coma at the time.

The crew was then sent to the Wan Chai apron, and then transferred by ambulance to the hospital for treatment.

Two crew members are still missing, and the Government Flying Service will continue the search and rescue operation with various units.
