In 2021, the Expo will launch a number of thematic exhibitions, including the "Hong Kong War Epidemic" thematic exhibition, which showcases how Hong Kong has dealt with various epidemics over the past 100 years, and the "Olympic ambition" thematic exhibition, which showcases the perseverance and fighting spirit of athletes, as well as coincidences. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong. The special exhibition "The People's Livelihood and Newspaper Industry in Hong Kong During the Japanese Occupation Period" was launched to reflect with the public the suffering of Hong Kong people in three and eight months.

In order to encourage students to pay attention to the development of Hong Kong sports and the performance of local athletes in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, the News-Expo hosted the "I Learned from Hong Kong Olympic Athletes..." Student Essay Competition from September to November. , A total of about 1,600 primary and middle school students participated.

The professional jury selected the champion, second and third runner-up works and two outstanding works in each group.

The competition is co-sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Chinachem Group, MTR Corporation and the Tin Ka Ping Foundation.
