The number of Omikron cases reported to the State Health Office has risen more than sixfold in the southwest within a week.
As the State Health Office announced on Sunday in Stuttgart, 855 cases of the Omikron variant (B.1.1.529) from Baden-Württemberg have been transmitted to the authority - that was 57 more than the day before.
A week ago there were 136 cases.
Stuttgart - The Omikron cases reported daily by the LGA are suspected cases as well as infections that have been confirmed by full genome analysis.
The authority does not provide any information on the proportion of current suspected cases.
The seven-day incidence continued to decline over the Christmas holidays in the southwest.
The value on Sunday was 222 per 100,000 inhabitants within a week.
The day before it was 228.4, a week ago it was 345.6.
However, the RKI points out that less test and reporting activity can be expected during the holidays and at the turn of the year.
Therefore, the officially reported number of cases could only show an incomplete picture of the corona situation in Germany.
