Cem Özdemir has explained his ministerial plans.
There is nothing wrong with the goals.
Nevertheless, there is danger - in the form of a wave of higher prices, as Wolfgang Mulke comments.
Another wave of higher prices is rolling towards consumers.
The new federal government is contributing to this and must be careful not to overwhelm private households.
For example, they will have to spend significantly more on food over the next few years.
Özdemir's agricultural plans are not available for free
There are several main reasons for this.
Expensive energy and climate protection taxes make the production of food more expensive.
As a result, fertilizers are becoming scarce and expensive, which in turn may lead to poorer harvest results.
And a short supply is usually also an expensive one.
The plans of the new Federal Minister of Agriculture, Cem Özdemir, will also result in higher prices, initially for meat products.
Because more animal welfare, less factory farming and a rapidly growing proportion of organic food are not available for free.
Greens want to turn agriculture upside down: There is nothing wrong with the goals - but there is still danger
The green head of the department wants to turn agriculture upside down, promote a healthier diet and enforce this goal with stricter rules for unhealthy ingredients in ready-made meals.
Hardly anyone will object to the goals.
The pace now envisaged for the change in direction towards a more compatible form of generation must, however, find acceptance by consumers, who should, of course, dig deeper into their pockets for the change.
Support is quickly lost if they can't cope with the price surge.
The traffic light has not yet revealed how the right balance can be found.
