Hiking accidents will be frequent in 2021. It is roughly estimated that at least 23 people were killed on the mountain. There were young people in their 20s and 30s, as well as senior hikers over 60. Some of the victims were experienced in hiking and hiking. Scout, one of them is the founder of the hiking team.
The accident sites are widely distributed, such as the Big Pillow Cover, Dongyang Mountain, Huangling, Baitoudun, Qilin Mountain, etc. The accidental black spot Feieshan Suicide Cliff has killed at least two hikers this year.
In addition, about half of the dead were accidentally hiking alone.

A 64-year-old woman, her husband and friends went hiking on North Lantau and went to Sunny Bay, but she suddenly fainted while feeling unwell; her husband called the police and the Flying Service helicopter arrived. A 51-year-old woman and her friend set off on the morning of February 4 and went on the big pillow cover from Wangi Road. She felt unwell on the way and said that she had chest pain. She fainted and became unconscious. The companions called the police and the flight service. The team rescued her and sent her to hospital, where she was later certified dead.

[3] Yu Guoqiang, a 58-year-old retired insurance broker, is a hiking enthusiast. He travels at least twice a week. He often visits with friends. However, on the morning of March 9th, he went to Fei'eshan alone to commit suicide on the cliff hiking, causing an accident. .
He started going up the mountain at about 10 am, and lost contact after sending a photo of the mountain road to his friend at 11 am.
In the afternoon of the next day, rescuers found Yu Guoqiang in a coma near Yingying Rock. He was sent to the hospital by helicopter and died.

[4] There were at least 5 fatal hiking accidents in March of this year. The same 58-year-old construction worker Lin Yongzhong went to Pak Tam Chung, Sai Kung alone on March 16, but did not return all night and lost contact.
Lin Yongzhong is also a mountain enthusiast, and he travels alone from time to time.
Rescuers searched the areas of Yangkuwan, Shangyao and Baitoudun to no avail, and found his body on the rocky beach of Xiangsi Bay on March 18.

[5] On March 22, a 56-year-old man who was serving as a city bus captain asked a friend to go hiking on Lantau Island. They departed from Tung Chung in the morning and approached 2 o’clock in the afternoon when they reached the mountainside of Maitreya Mountain. Suddenly fainted.
A friend called the police for help, and the Government Flying Service helicopter took the victim to the Eastern District Hospital, where he was certified dead.
It is reported that the victim has suffered from high blood pressure for many years.

At about 11:00, a mountain hiker found him lying on the ground, having difficulty breathing and gradually losing consciousness, so he called the police for help.
The Flying Service helicopter sent him to the hospital for rescue, but he was certified dead at noon.

[7] On March 29, a 66-year-old man and his friend went hiking on the 4th section of Wilson Trail. They set off from Tseng Lan Shu and headed to Camp Kewell.
At about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, when they were walking near Dongyang Mountain, the man suddenly fainted and passed out, and his friend called the police.
The Flying Service helicopter arrived at the scene to hoist him and sent him to the hospital where he was certified dead.

[8] In April, there was a hiking accident that attracted the attention of the whole Hong Kong. Shi Leqiao, a 24-year-old girl who loves hiking, put on a hiking costume on April 15 and disappeared after leaving home alone.
The police received the report on April 17 and began search and rescue with the fire and flight service teams. Many mountain friends spontaneously organized search and rescue teams to go up the mountain.
Shi Leqiao's family members also set up a tracing group, calling on hikers to help and exchange information.

[9] In May, there was also a fatal hiking accident that had been searched for several days. 33-year-old Chen Jinghui went hiking alone in Baxianling on the morning of May 23 and mentioned to his family that he would return home at around 7 pm.
At about 11:30 in the morning, Chen Jinghui sent a landscape photo to his mother, suspected to be taken by him on the way to Xiangu Mountain.
Chen Jinghui did not go home at night and lost contact.
Rescuers did not find Chen Jinghui's body until May 27. The location was about 120 meters from the grass in Huangling Pass. The location was remote and part of the body was covered by the grass, which made the search more difficult.

[10] There was another fatal accident on May 23. At that time, the temperature was as high as 35.8 degrees. A 61-year-old man and his friends went hiking in Tai Po, intending to climb Jiulong Hang Mountain via Yuxiu Peak.
At around 10 a.m., after they walked for about 40 minutes, he suddenly fainted on the top of the hill off Kangyuan.
The Flying Service helicopter arrived and sent him to the hospital, but unfortunately died.

[11] In fact, fatal hiking accidents do not only occur in remote and dangerous places such as Huangling and Fei'eshan.
On June 20, a 47-year-old man went hiking on the top of the mountain alone and had an accident. It was not until the afternoon of June 21 that he was discovered by other hikers. He was lying on the top of the hill in the grassy position of the slope near Pokfulam Reservoir Road.
Rescuers arrived at the scene and sent him to hospital for rescue, where he was later certified dead.
He suspected that he stumbled and fell on a slope, hit his head against a hard object and was injured, leaving a scar on his forehead.

[12] Stepping into the hot summer is a high-risk period for hiking and heatstroke. Even Scouts with rich experience and field knowledge may have accidents.
On July 3, a 24-year-old Scout went to Saigon to participate in a map reading training. A group of 21 people brought all equipment, food and water. He also joined the Scout for more than ten years and took an active part in the activity.
At around 2 o'clock in the afternoon, they walked to rest under the shade of a tree in the pier, during which he suddenly vomited a mouthful of sputum and fainted.
The fellow instructor immediately called the police and gave him first aid, and was rescued by the Flying Service helicopter and sent to the hospital, but he died.
A Scout instructor who assisted in the first aid at the scene was suspected of being exhausted and felt dizzy for a while. After that, he regained consciousness and was also sent to the hospital by helicopter for treatment.

[13] There were 4 fatal hiking accidents in July 2021. Huang Weilin, a 42-year-old woman, went missing after hiking at Kudos Reservoir and Qilin Mountain alone on July 3. Her family called the police the next day.
Search and rescue personnel searched for days, including sending a frogman to dive into the ancient cave reservoir. It was not until the afternoon of July 9 that she was found in Qilin Mountain Col, and she was confirmed dead on the spot.

[14] In the scorching summer, many hikers have changed to hiking, but the terrain of the stream is more dangerous than the mountain trail. You may need to climb and set foot on the edge of the cliff, which is more prone to accidents.
On July 10, a 32-year-old woman and her friends set off at Leung King Village, Tuen Mun, heading towards Qing Da Shijian.
At 5 o'clock in the afternoon, when she was planning to take a photo in Shijian, she suspected that she stumbled and fell into a 5-meter-deep pool.
A companion called the police, but after rescuers arrived, it was confirmed that she was dead.
From the social networking site of the deceased, she had been to Dadongshan, Dadaoqi, Qingshan, Kapok Cave, Phoenix Mountain, Diaoyu Weng and other places, and she was also an experienced hiker.

To travel safely, the weather, the right place, and the people are indispensable; even if you have the skills, experience and physical stamina, if you ignore the weather and the mountains, accidents are likely to happen.
On July 20th, Xiao Wenjie, the founder of the hiking team "Friends of Eagle Jie", went to Maanshan Dashuikeng with 3 friends and went to Ma Da Shijian.
At the time of the incident, the Observatory was hoisting the No. 3 strong wind signal.
At around 10 o'clock in the morning, when they reached the hero waterfall, Xiao Wenjie was washed away by the flood.
After receiving the report, rescuers searched through wind and rain. At about 4 pm, Xiao Wenjie's body was found on a rocky beach in the Dashuikeng catchment area. He was 60 years old.
It was reported that two men and two women went hiking in Ma Dashijian, Ma On Shan. Xiao Wenjie was washed away by the water on the way.

On August 1, a 64-year-old man and his wife went to Tsuen Kok Road. They started from Sham Tseng and planned to go to Tsuen Wan.
At around 10 am, when they arrived at Qingkuaitang New Village, he suddenly felt dizzy and his wife called the police for help.
Soon, he fainted and passed out.
The Flying Service helicopter arrived at the scene and sent him to the hospital for first aid, but unfortunately he died.
The deceased had a record of heart disease for many years.

[17] On August 20, a 37-year-old man of Russian descent went hiking in the Plover Cove Reservoir with a friend. During the trip, he felt chest pain and his friend called the police.
When rescuers arrived, he was in a coma and died after being sent to the hospital.

[18] A hiking accident of great concern occurred in Hong Kong in September. Shou Fugang, the 59-year-old executive director and chief executive officer of China Bank of Communications Insurance Co., Ltd., wore a hiking attire in the early morning of September 12th. He disappeared after leaving his home in North Point.
Rescuers searched the countryside of Sai Kung for several days and found his body on a slope of Tam Chai Shan in Sai Kung on September 17. He was suspected of slipping and falling 50 meters from the hillside and died after being rescued.

[19] There were at least 4 fatal hiking accidents in October 2021. A 51-year-old British man disappeared after traveling alone to Huanglong Shijian, Lantau Island on October 2. His friend reported to the police in the early morning of October 6. Search and rescue personnel found his body at the top of Juelong Valley in Wolong Shijian at about 5 pm on the same day.
Juelong Valley is a famous dangerous place. In July 2020, two hikers fell there, causing one death and one injury.

[20] On October 6, a 53-year-old man invited his friends to hike the mountain in Sai Kung. They started from Pak Sha O in the morning and headed to Lichi Village.
At around 3 pm, when they approached Xiaotang Camp of the Caritas Jockey Club in Lichizhuang, the man suddenly felt heart discomfort and fell into a coma. His companion called the police and the helicopter arrived, but he died after being rescued.

[21] The 57-year-old Luo Honghui wore hiking shoes and a big backpack on October 23. He was suspected to be missing when hiking alone. The next day, his family reported that he might be hiking in the green hills.
After days of searching, the police found his body on a hillside near Lungyao Street, Castle Peak, on the afternoon of October 28.

[22] A rare hiking accident occurred on October 31, but it is worthy of alert for mountain friends.
A 51-year-old woman walked out of the road at Diwan, the main entrance of the Longji Hiking Trail, and was killed by a private car.
According to preliminary investigations, the deceased woman fell to the side of the road on Shek O Road after hiking on Longji. She found that the bus had arrived at the station and had an accident while rushing across the road to chase the bus.

[23] A 29-year-old man, Wu Jingyuan, went missing on a hiking trip in Saigon alone on November 26. Rescuers searched the Bai La Bay area.
On the morning of November 27, a mountain hiker found some personal belongings suspected to be Wu Jingyuan on a cliff on a nearby hill. On the same night, the Marine Police Search and Rescue Team and firefighters recovered his body from the Bai La Sea in Sai Kung.

Summarizing the above 23 fatal hiking accidents, the deceased were many experienced hiking enthusiasts with many years of experience, and equipped with hiking shoes and other equipment. Among them, Xiao Wenjie, who died of the hero waterfall, was a well-known senior in the mountain world.
Based on the analysis of age, the deaths of hiking accidents in 2021 range from teenagers and girls in their twenties to elders over sixties. Among them, the proportion of 51 to 60 years old is the highest, and 11 people in this age group have lost their lives on the mountain; 60 There are 4 people aged 21 to 30 years old and 3 people aged 31 to 40 years old.
Of the 23 fatal accidents, 11 went hiking alone.
Comparing the two accidents, if you have a friend, the rescuer can always be there on the same day; but if it is an accident that goes missing alone, the family usually does not call the police until the next day, and it is also difficult for rescuers to find and rescue the victim immediately. It takes days to search, delaying the time for the victim to obtain treatment.
In 2021, at least two suspected cases of Hiking missing have yet to find the victim.
On October 19, 30-year-old Ye Yunfu put on sportswear and a big rucksack and left home. He told his wife earlier that he wanted to watch the sunrise. It is estimated that he was going to camp on a mountain alone.
On October 28, Wang Yuanhua, a 31-year-old man, left his home and disappeared. Because his previous appointment with a friend on the suicide cliff and the fishing man failed to make the trip, it is estimated that he may have gone hiking.
As for non-fatal hiking accidents, it is not exhaustive. The most serious cases are usually either falling from a height or heatstroke and coma.
In January, a Japanese man suffered a fall in Xingjian, Huanglong Shijian. In the same month, a man fell ill and fell into a semi-coma at Diaoshouyan, Ma'anshan.
In February, a man fainted at the tip of anaconda snake. In the same month, a man stumbled and fell to a 10-meter-high hillside at Fengbi Shijian.
In March, a man fell from a height of 2 meters at the Shitian Gate of Heyang Mountain and was trapped among the rocks. He suffered a head injury and became unconscious.

On June 23, the Observatory recorded a high temperature of 36.1 degrees, and mountain hikers asked for help from Qiaozui Chau, Jialong, Liangjing and other places.
In July, a woman was uncomfortable during a night walk on Lion Rock. In the same month, a woman walked on Shuanglu Shijian from a height of 2 meters and fell into a sump and was injured.

In addition, on October 19, a couple went hiking in Fei'e Mountain and were trapped in the area around Yitian Ridge at night and called the police for help.
In the early hours of the next morning, the firefighter approached the two men and assisted them in descending the mountain.
