Region - Avian influenza with the H5 pathogen has reached the Weilheim-Schongau district.
New rules apply to poultry farmers.
The avian influenza has reached the Weilheim-Schongau district, as reported by the veterinary office in the Weilheim-Schongau district office.
On December 21, the outbreak of avian influenza (AI) in a small poultry farm (chickens, geese, ducks) in the area of the municipality of Peißenberg was officially confirmed.
As a result, in addition to various measures to increase biosecurity, it is now mandatory for all poultry farmers in the district to stablish the animals in order to contain the animal disease.
The pathogens of the subtype H5, which have so far been detected in Germany in autumn and winter 2021, are, however, considered to be harmless to humans.
