Controversy in the coalition over the "Barkat Law": Blue and White, Labor and Meretz demand to postpone the discussion
Bish Atid, New Hope and Yisrael Beiteinu are interested in supporting the law, which they believe may create unrest in the Likud.
In contrast, in blue and white, Labor and Meretz argue that the law, which limits the amount of public fundraising donations, is "personal and draconian", and that in any case there should be a discussion about changes in the election laws

Disagreement in the coalition over MK Dudi Amsalem's Barkat Law from the Likud, which will be raised this morning (Monday) in the Ministerial Committee for Legislation. bad-looking, new hope and Israel Beiteinu are interested in supporting and promoting the law, which produces internal unrest within the Likud.
the law of Amsalem is an amendment to the parties, limiting the amount of fundraising for elected officials and family members for the purpose of political activity to 100 thousand dollars a year. it is considered the law Who is personally targeting MK Nir Barkat, who intends to run for the Likud presidency in the future, and has to date invested a lot of equity in consultants, advertising and campaigns in Likud primaries, and even leads in most future polls on the leadership position.
Justice Minister Gideon Saar is interested in supporting the law, as are the chairman of Yesh Atid, Yair Lapid, and the chairman of Yisrael Beiteinu, Avigdor Lieberman.
Their support for the law stems, among other things, from the assessment or hope that its promotion will lead to an increase in the number of internal conflicts in the Likud.
On the other hand, in blue and white, the Labor Party and Meretz oppose the promotion of the law in its current version.
According to sources in blue and white, even if there is room to restrict fundraising, this is a "personal and draconian" law.

In blue and white, Labor and Meretz mobilized for a common front to postpone the promotion of the law until an orderly discussion of the coalition.
Among other things, they adhere to the section in the guidelines of the coalition agreements, which stipulates that a steering committee will be established with the participation of all coalition factions to examine changes in the electoral system and legislative amendments to the Propaganda Law.
If in the end the proposal goes up for a vote, in blue and white and Labor are likely to vote against.
At the same time, these are only two to three ministers out of the 12 members of the Ministerial Committee for Legislation, and Saar will be able to pass the law despite their opposition.
If the law is approved by the Ministerial Committee for Legislation, it is expected to rise later in the day in the Likud faction and cause an internal storm there as well.
Netanyahu is considered to be the one who is expected to support Amsalem's law, as are other senior Likud figures who are interested in weakening Barkat's power and influence.
According to the Likud, factional freedom of vote will be granted, but most MKs are expected to support the law.
