The Barkat Law was approved today (Monday) by the Ministerial Committee for Legislation.
The law is an amendment to the Parties Law, which limits the amount of fundraising of an elected official and his family for political activity to NIS 100,000 per year.
The law, initiated by MK Dudi Amsalem (Likud), is considered a law that is personally directed against MK Nir Barkat, who intends to run for the Likud presidency in the future, and has to date invested a lot of equity in advisers, advertising and campaigns in Likud primaries, and even leads in most future polls The leadership.

The law has sparked controversy in the coalition.
In the Blue and White parties, Labor and Meretz opposed the law in its current form, and in the Blue and White even claimed that it is "personal and draconian" - while Bish Atid, New Hope and Yisrael Beiteinu are interested in supporting and promoting the law, which creates internal unrest within the Likud.
However, as part of the agreements reached, it was decided that the coalition would support the law in a preliminary reading, after which it would be promoted only under the authority of a coalition committee headed by Justice Minister Gideon Saar.
Blue and White was the only one who objected, with Minister Pnina Temano Sheta voting against the law in committee.
Now the law is expected to rise later in the day in the Likud faction and cause an internal storm there as well.
Netanyahu is considered to be the one who is expected to support Amsalem's law, as are other senior Likud figures who are interested in weakening Barkat's power and influence.
According to the Likud, factional freedom of vote will be granted, but most MKs are expected to support the law.
