Jerusalem Police embarrassment: A police officer who impersonated a criminal during a surprise exercise held at one of the district police stations, was injured during his "arrest" and filed a complaint with the DIP against the detectives who "arrested him."
Israel Today has learned that during a surprise exercise, which took place about three weeks ago at the Harel station in Mevaseret Zion and imagined an outbreak of houses against the backdrop of burglary incidents in the area - one of the policemen who participated in the exercise and belongs to another unit in the Jerusalem district.
The incident got out of hand
A detective team from the Harel station, who of course did not know that this was an exercise, received the report, arrived in the area and in an operational activity managed to catch the "burglar".
During his arrest, when they still did not know that it was actually an exercise, a kind of struggle developed between the detectives and the suspect as a burglar, during which he was slightly injured and wounded in the face.
At no point did anyone yet think of announcing that it was an exercise, and only when the commanders on the ground recognized that the incident was already out of control did the call come out in the connection: "Exercise, exercise, exercise!".
Detectives were surprised to find that it was actually one of their own, but that was not the end of the incident.
The policeman, who has been serving in the police for years, and who was allegedly injured during his "arrest", decided to file a complaint against his friends in the DIP for a clause of unreasonable use of force.

The Israel Police responded: "During the year, the Israel Police conducts various and varied exercises in a variety of scenarios, in order to preserve and improve the police response and operational competence, as well as for learning purposes."
According to police, "In this case, the police officers practiced in a scenario of a suspect in the form of a surprise exercise. During the exercise, the police officers took over a police officer who directed the suspect using force, resulting in him being slightly injured. And lessons learned, and later the case was transferred to the Department of Police Investigations for examination. "
