The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court has decided (Monday) to release under eight-day house arrest Professor Aryeh Levin, a senior gastroenterologist, who was arrested again yesterday on suspicion of committing a sex offense on a 16-year-old girl. Thus, eight out of 12 cases were deleted even before the hearing.
As stated, following the investigation that has been conducted in recent months against Levin, yesterday he was taken again for questioning after Shabbat 16 filed a complaint against him alleging that he committed sexual offenses with her.
Levin was brought to court for a hearing, with the police requesting an extension of his detention for seven days.
The police representative said that this was a difficult case that occurred about six months ago.
According to the complaint, the minor came to see another doctor, but while waiting but Levin turned to her, examined her and performed an act of sodomy and rape on her, while there is no record of the examination.
On the other hand, his defense attorney, Adv. Lior Epstein, claimed that even before the hearing, the State Attorney's Office decided to delete 8 of the 12 cases investigated in the Ayalon area. Checked for symptoms she noted when she arrived at the ward.
All in all, Judge Hilu Assad released him on eight-day house arrest and noted in her decision that there was a reasonable suspicion that Levin had committed the new offenses.
The judge noted that Levin denied in his interrogation that the rape had taken place, but did not deny in a sweeping manner that he performed the test and claimed medical justification - this while the police claim that it was an act of sodomy.
The suspect provided medical explanations in response to the complaints.
