The analogy chosen by the Prime Minister to describe the unenviable condition of Lebanon during the celebration of its independence, on November 22, revived the debate on the place of women in Lebanese society, which does not consider them, by right, as full citizens.
Najib Mikati compared the commemoration to that of a
"divorced woman celebrating her wedding anniversary".
Adding learnedly that
"it would not be there if she had succeeded in preserving the good understanding within her couple".
