After a three-year delay, the time has come: In Neuried, the construction of the Kinderhaus Zauberwald starts on the future Bozaunweg.
Three crèche and two kindergarten groups are planned for Neuried children.
In wintry temperatures, Neuried's mayor Harald Zipfel, building authority employee Christian Glaßer and the project and sales managers of the executing companies dig their shovels into the frozen ground.
It is the symbolic prelude to a building project in which the community had to overcome some hurdles.
Neuried starts the construction of the “Zauberwald” children's home on the future Bozaunweg
The Kinderhaus Zauberwald was originally supposed to move from Zugspitzstrasse to the other side of the M4 three years ago.
The project was delayed again and again because of the land conditions.
Up to the realization that the relocation of the individual wooden modules that make up the AWO-Kinderhaus is, contrary to previous insurances, not possible for warranty reasons (we reported).
Instead, with the groundbreaking, construction work on the new “Magic Forest” will begin, which will be built with five instead of three children's groups next to the youth center on the southern Maxhofweg area on the newly emerging Bozaunweg.
The cost of the construction project is estimated at around 4.5 million euros.
Neuried receives financial support of 968,000 euros from the Free State of Bavaria.
"The new building is due to the new residential areas with almost 350 new arrivals," said Mayor Zipfel, explaining the urgency of the move.
The new building of the AWO children's home is expected to open in summer 2022
The municipality announced in a press release that the first of the 41 planned modules will be delivered at the end of February next year.
Work on the outdoor facilities is planned from March, and the Kinderhaus Zauberwald will then be able to open its doors for the children in the summer.
According to project manager Tino Arlt and sales manager Christian Feldmann from Grinbold Jodag modul Raum GmbH, delays are not to be expected due to the fixed production planning.
