The Department of Health has recently received notifications from the Mainland that two Hong Kong residents were diagnosed during their flight to Shanghai for quarantine. The situation is rare.

According to the information released by the Center for Health Protection, the two were female graduate students of the University of Science and Technology and a male employee of Ericsson (China) Co., Ltd. They arrived there on the 5th and 19th of this month by Eastern Airlines flight MU508, but both of them were on the 22nd. After the illness, the virus tested positive in the next two days and the diagnosis was confirmed.

The two lived in the HKUST postgraduate dormitory and Crowne Plaza Hotel Kowloon East, Tseung Kwan O, but their whereabouts in Hong Kong did not overlap during the preliminary period. They should have a negative test certificate before boarding the plane.

The authorities have no information on whether the two people will be infected on the plane, and whether they live in the same quarantine shop and spread internally.

A mandatory test announcement issued by the Food and Health Bureau on Christmas Eve (24th) mentioned a non-local confirmed case that had stayed in Hong Kong.

According to the CHP, the case involved a 23-year-old female patient living in the east wing of the fifth floor of Jixian Building, Jockey Club, University of Science and Technology.

The dormitory is for graduate students, so it is inferred that the patient is a female graduate student of HKUST.

The Food and Health Bureau announced today (27) the mandatory test announcement, which announced another non-local confirmed case that had stayed in Hong Kong.

According to data from the Center for Health Protection, a 26-year-old male patient living in the Crowne Plaza Hotel Kowloon East in Hong Kong was involved. Ericsson (China) Co., Ltd., on the 9th floor of the Kowloon Bay International Exhibition and Trade Center, was included in the mandatory inspection list.

The two had the same symptoms on 5/12 and 19/12 respectively on the 22nd of this month in Shanghai

The Center for Health Protection stated that the HKUST female postgraduate took flight MU508 from Hong Kong to Shanghai as early as the 5th of this month. She tested positive locally on the 23rd of this month. According to the information provided by the patient, she went to Shanghai on the 22nd of this month. Symptoms appear.

The male Ericsson employee only took MU508 to Shanghai two weeks after her, that is, on the 19th of this month. The result of a local test on the 24th of this month was positive, and his symptoms were also on the 22nd of this month.

The two were vaccinated with Sinopharm vaccine or Kexing vaccine in the Mainland from April to June. They did not receive a third booster dose in Hong Kong.
