Richard Lugner and his "Bienchen" separated shortly after their engagement.

The entrepreneur confirmed the separation - but they had parted on good terms.

Vienna - Austria's successful entrepreneur Richard Siegfried Lugner and his fiancée Simone Reiländer, alias Bienchen, who is 50 years younger than him, are now going their separate ways.

He and Simone had many happy moments, but they had realized that their characters were too different, the 89-year-old entrepreneur announced on Monday.

Lugner put a ring on the 39-year-old's finger at his birthday party in October.

"It wasn't easy for both of us," said Lugner about his separation.

He now has five marriages and several relationships with significantly younger women.

We had a lot of nice hours together.

But we have come to believe that we are two different characters who don't harmonize well enough. "

Richard Lugner: Corona throws another spanner in the works for his Vienna Opera Ball

The love-off between the couple has ended peacefully - both are now still friends.

But for the 89-year-old, things are currently not going so smoothly professionally.

Due to the current corona pandemic, he will also have to cancel his Vienna Opera Ball in February 2022.

The event could not take place this year either - up to 5000 guests are expected on site every year.

"I save myself money and a lot of excitement, but I'm sorry too," he said at the time to the German Press Agency in Vienna.
