Vienna-Sana

The eighth round of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group of Four Plus One began in the Austrian capital Vienna.

And the Iranian news agency "IRNA" stated that this round of talks began at the level of assistant foreign ministers and directors of political affairs in the Iranian foreign ministries and the Four Plus One International Group.

This meeting is chaired by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani and Enrique Mora, the European Union's coordinator for the Vienna negotiations.

For his part, Mora expected in a press statement after the end of the first meeting within the framework of the eighth round of talks that an agreement on reviving the nuclear agreement with Iran would be reached within weeks, saying: “The participating parties are working to abolish sanctions against Iran and ensure the country’s commitment to its commitments within the framework of Parallel transaction.

Mora added, "We are working on both tracks simultaneously... We are not working in one direction while forgetting or ignoring the other, stressing that both tracks reinforce each other."

Mora called on all parties to do diligent work during this round of talks to achieve a good result, while refraining from specifying any exact date for the expected reaching of the agreement, but he said: "We are talking about weeks, not months."

He added that the negotiations will be suspended in the first three days of the New Year holidays, but the participants will return to Vienna by the third of next January.

In a related context, foreign media quoted the representative of China during the talks, Wang Kufan, as saying: “The areas of difference between the Iranian side and the European Troika, France, Germany and Britain are moving towards a retreat, and there is a possibility to reach an agreement before next February,” noting that the new round of nuclear talks will focus on Lift the embargo on Iran.

The head of the Russian delegation participating in the talks, Mikhail Ulyanov, also expected that the eighth round would be the last round of these talks.

The negotiators reached, during the seventh round, an agreement on adopting a common text and establishing a basis for continuing the talks, despite the insistence of the European parties to reject this agreement. other parties.

It is noteworthy that seven rounds of talks were held between Iran and the international community on the nuclear agreement in Vienna, in light of the Iranian side's affirmation of its commitment to reach positive results to ensure the lifting of the unjust US embargo imposed on his country and the intransigence of the US side and its continuation of imposing sanctions and unilateral measures.
