El Al continues to work to obtain an exceptional permit for the rescue of the flight attendant who is in solitary confinement in China.
The company had hoped to obtain the long-awaited permit today (Monday), but the country's authorities are demanding to wait until it recovers before allowing it to leave the isolation facility in the city of Guangzhou where it is being held.
The flight attendant was diagnosed last Thursday in the Omicron variant after arriving in China on a cargo flight.
Accordingly, El Al is trying to fly it back on a company transport flight.
