The artist Abbas Al-Hawi is a multi-talented creator in acting, writing and directing, distinguished by the spontaneity of performance and diversity in playing the characters, which made him one of the stars of Syrian art who achieved a presence since the seventies of the last century in cinema, television and theater.

In an interview with SANA, al-Hawi said: “I was born in Damascus to parents from Lebanon of Syrian origin.

Al-Hawi, director of the movie “Death of Life,” added: “I joined the Syndicate of Artists in its early years, accompanied by artists with rich fingerprints, such as Abdel Hadi Al-Sabbagh, Hani Al-Saadi and Mazen Lotfi. From the films of the seventies of the last century.

Regarding his first appearance, Al-Hawi explains that his first role was to star in the opera "Aladdin and the Enchanted Sword" in 1975 for the Military Theater directed by the artist Mohamed Al-Tayeb.

Among the more than a hundred works presented by Al-Hawi between series, dramas, plays and films, the series Al-Mahkoum for the departed, Riyad Sefla, written and directed by Muhammad Ferdous Atassi, has a special place in his heart, in which he played the role of a police officer, in addition to the series “Al-Tair” written by Nabil Al-Gharbi and directed by Ghassan Jabri, who shared it Starring the artists "Rami Hanna, Qais Sheikh Najib, Karis Bashar and Saad Mina".

Among the works that Al-Hawi carried out, which achieved a great presence among the audience, was the famous radio series “The Judgment of Justice”, where he played the role of the investigator, presenter Raif through 400 episodes for eight continuous years, noting the resonance of this work as people were eagerly waiting for him.

Regarding his work on the Golden Screen, Al-Hawi says: I worked as an assistant director, in addition to doing film editing in several works for the private sector, such as “The Sinners”, “Forest of Wolves”, “Farewell to Yesterday”, “The Beautiful Journalist”, “Awda Hamida”, “Girl of the Clown” and others. .

Despite the lack of Al-Hawi’s participation on stage, the theater remained a popular art for him, as he stops at his roles in the plays “Eid Al-Shahadin” and “The Road to the Sun” based on the text of Kifah Al-Khous and directed by Mamdouh Al-Atrash in 2015.

Radio work still takes a place in Al-Hawi's business and attracts him due to his effective social role, and it attracts broad segments who find it entertaining on the radio as they carry out their work and follow their daily lives.

Regarding his view as an artist with an experience that spanned fifty years in the contemporary artistic reality, Al-Hawi believes that seriousness and commitment no longer mean many artists today. Therefore, works in the past remain more valuable and more visible, considering that dramatic productions suffer from dispersion and present works that do not reflect our true identity and values.

Despite his great artistic output, Al-Hawi does not find himself an art professional, so he engages in other works, and his eclectic works remain as a hobby dear to his heart.
