The activities of the cultural celebration of the 50th anniversary of the departure of the scholar Khair al-Din al-Asadi began on the stage of the National Library in Aleppo today, with the participation of writers and researchers, and it includes various illuminations on the most prominent intellectual figure that Aleppo gave birth to during the twentieth century.

Regarding the celebration, which is held in cooperation between the Directorate of Culture and the Association of Al-Adiyat, Jaber Al-Sajour, Director of Aleppo Culture, said in a statement to SANA reporter, the support given by the Ministry to the activities concerned with the great writers and contribute to the revival of folklore at all levels and shed light on their valuable literary and intellectual products.

Muhammad Khair Al-Din Al-Rifai, head of the Al-Adyat Association, spoke about the importance of celebrating its implications in expressing the authenticity of the city of Aleppo and its loyalty to the late Al-Asadi, who presented it with the juice of his thought and research, especially in the fields of Arabic language and spoken dialects.

Muhammad Hijazi, director of the National Library, said that al-Asadi, who gave his private library to Dar al-Kutub, still had his spirit roaming in this house and his voice resounding throughout it, stressing that al-Asadi was a sign of the level of Aleppo that he gave of his spirit, as his encyclopedia was of great importance.

Muhammad Qajah, a researcher in issues of civilizations, pointed out the importance of al-Asadi’s products in his books on Aleppo, its gates and its markets, in addition to many miscellaneous books. Spoken language, music and religious songs, and to the Al-Asadi Encyclopedia, which took great care of this important heritage.

The writer and novelist Muhammad Abu Maatouq, who won the State Appreciation Award, spoke about his novel he wrote about Al-Asadi, entitled “The Wizard and the Rose,” in which he reviewed the spiritual life of this writer, trying to connect him with the public spirit, being, and the different place to see the real place.
