Leung Wai Shing (61 years old), the chief executive of the listed company EGCO Group, has lost all thoughts about business failure. This morning (28th) he went to the company’s birthplace, King’s Road, Renfu Industrial Building, to cherish the memory of the old factory, and sent a "death message". Instructed his family to take care of each other, he stepped onto the roof and jumped off, lying on the platform and died of serious injuries.
Liang Weicheng, whose English name is Wilson, lives in Tai Po Kangyuan and holds a master's degree in electrical engineering from Queen`s University in Canada. He joined the Aigao Group founded by his father in 1985. He is currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and has 40 years of experience in the electronics industry.
The AGCO Group started from the production of radios and has since continued to expand. At present, it mainly produces tablets, DVDs and audios. It has branches in the Mainland and Taiwan. It was listed in Hong Kong in 1992.
The deceased suffered from diabetes and depression for many years
It is reported that Liang Weicheng has suffered from depression for many years.
At 8:52 this morning, he was found lying on the platform of Renfu Industrial Building, 1067 King's Road. Ambulance personnel arrived at the scene and confirmed that he died on the spot, without being sent to hospital.
Police investigation revealed that the deceased had sent a "death text message" to his family before he fell to the building. The content roughly read: "I am now on the rooftop to take care of the people in the housing estate." The police believed that the deceased had been thinking about the company's debt due to business failure.
According to sources, the electronics company of Leung Wai Shing’s family set up a factory in Renfu Industrial Building in the 1970s. With the rapid development of Hong Kong’s economy, Aiko also developed rapidly, laying the foundation for becoming a listed company. It is suspected that this golden age will be missed by the deceased. Coming back to commit suicide by jumping off the building, the incident is beyond doubt.
"Hong Kong 01" is making inquiries with Aigao Group.
