Unterallgäu - The year 2021 was again dominated by the corona pandemic. “I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the fight against the disease and everyone who contributed to maintaining our social life and our social coexistence,” says District Administrator Alex Eder: “When I look back on the year 2021, see But I also have milestones that have nothing to do with the pandemic. ”The Unterallgäu district has made record investments of around 20.8 million and invested in particular in clinics, schools and the road network. "Nevertheless, we are staying right on schedule with the decision to reduce debt," said Eder.
The clinic in Mindelheim is being developed into a
health
campus - the district council had spoken out in favor of this. That means: the already planned renovation will be improved, the medical equipment of the house expanded and a medical center built. The hospital in Ottobeuren is currently also being extensively modernized. The Unterallgäu district will invest at least 49 million euros in the two clinics in the coming years.
The new
State Academy for Social Pedagogy
at the branch of the vocational school in Memmingen is
a win in several respects
.
Here you can now be trained as an educator.
The first students have already started their training.
The Unterallgäu administrative district is currently renovating a wing of the building and is taking around 630,000 euros for this.
Another building construction project is expected to be completed soon - the expansion of the
district senior citizens' home Am Anger
in Bad Wörishofen.
21 new care places are being created here.
A total of 69 residents can then be cared for in the facility.
The construction will cost around four million euros.
The district councils made important decisions for another construction project in 2021: the
main building of the district office
on Bad Wörishofer Straße will be extended.
The new upper floor is to be built of wood and equipped with a PV system.
The construction is expected to cost around 3.1 million euros.
"In our construction projects, we always pay attention to a good energy standard and the use of renewable energies, for example the Mindelheim vocational school will soon receive two photovoltaic systems," says Eder.
The proportion of renewable energies should also continue to rise in the entire district.
"In
terms
of power supply, the share is already 74 percent - we are now
focusing more on heating
and launched the Unterallgäu
heating offensive
in May 2021.
"
The Unterallgäu
district
invested
around 4.8 million euros in the district
roads
in 2021 in
order to make them safer and to adapt them to the current traffic loads. The expansion of the Warmisried through-town and the district road in the direction of Unteregg (MN 28) as well as the expansion of the Stockheim through-town (MN 29) were completed this year. Construction work in the Bad Grönenbach thoroughfare (MN 21) will be finished next year. The district also began with the expansion of Sebastian-Kneipp-Straße in Ottobeuren (MN 18), with the expansion of the Markt Rettenbach through-town and the district road to Gottenau in connection with the construction of a new cycle and walkway (MN 32) and with the Expansion of the through traffic in Babenhausen (MN 8).
According to Eder, it is just as important
to improve
local public transport
.
Since December 2020, in addition to the Unterallgäu and the district of Günzburg, the city of Memmingen has also been part of the Central Swabian Transport Association (VVM).
Bit by bit, the city and the district have since been coordinating city and regional buses better and expanding the range.
The
Flexibus
network
is also growing
steadily: In 32 municipalities in Unterallgäu, passengers can now access this offer and travel almost from door to door within the node, regardless of a timetable.
"During the corona pandemic in particular, we were increasingly out and about in front of our front door in our free time," says Eder.
So he is pleased that the
Glücksweges could
open in
2021
- 14 cycling and hiking trails in the Unterallgäu around the topic of happiness.
There has been an
inclusion council
in Unterallgäu since July 2021
.
"Together with the advisory board we want to advance inclusion - a big task," says Eder: "I am grateful that we have so many people here in Unterallgäu who volunteer with all their skills and knowledge - not only in the field Inclusion, but in all areas of life. "
