Foreign Minister Yair Lapid decided today (Tuesday) to appoint Ron Proshaur as Israel's ambassador to Germany, who will replace the current ambassador, Jeremy Issacharoff.
Proshaur, who previously served as Israel's ambassador to the UN, said after the announcement of the appointment: "I am deeply moved to close the circle and return as Israel's ambassador to Germany, the birthplace of Avi Uri's memory of blessing."
"Proshor's appointment to Berlin symbolizes the importance of Israel - Germany relations and the continued strengthening of cooperation with the new government in Berlin," said Foreign Minister Lapid.
"His extensive experience and familiarity with the Israeli foreign service will greatly contribute to the challenges in the international arena."

Designated Ambassador Proshor said: "As someone who has represented Israel both in the United Kingdom and at the United Nations, I am embarking on my third mission as an ambassador imbued with a sense of responsibility and mission, understanding and recognizing the importance of the key European countries.
I thank Foreign Minister Lapid for the trust he has placed in me, and promise that I will do my best to leverage the special relationship between the two countries.
Ron Proshaur, currently heads the Abba Even Institute for International Diplomacy at Reichman University. Proshour served as Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations from 2011-2015.
Proshor joined the Foreign Ministry in 1986. During his service as spokesman for the embassy in Bonn, he was one of the first Israeli representatives to have ties with East Germany.
After unification with West Germany, he worked to establish ties with the new federal states in its territory.
