Russia's most famous human rights organization Memorial has to close.
That was decided by the Supreme Court in Moscow.
The attorney general had previously filed an "application for liquidation" for violating Russian laws.
Memorial denies the allegations and denounces political persecution.
The Memorial Society, founded in 1987, previously spoke of a "political decision" without a legal basis.
The aim is to »destroy an organization dealing with the history of political repression and the protection of human rights«.
