A tweet posted about a week ago by Rabbi David Beshavkin about the superhero's connection to Judaism went viral and created a wave of tweets from surfers who joined the celebration and pointed to references with a Jewish motif in the new film and its predecessors.

If you were wondering why there are quite a few mentions and guest appearances with a Jewish tone in the Spider-Man film series, Rodney Rothman, one of the directors of the superhero films, has provided some kind of explanation in the past.
"I have a strong and stubborn personal belief for many reasons because Peter Parker is probably Jewish. I myself grew up in Forest Hills in Queens and I am Jewish so maybe I'm throwing myself away," he said.
