Opinion | When the government ignores reality - it may prepare for the next security incident Israel today

2021-12-28T06:45:22.860Z

Evacuation and destruction of buildings in Chumash can be explained under common sense - it is against the law, but the statement ignores the complex situation that exists in Judea and Samaria, Jerusalem and the cities involved • The Netanyahu government had difficulty fighting terrorism, but at least the statements were completely different

On Thursday thousands marched to the Pentateuch.

The rain and strong winds did not stop the crowds.

Hand in hand they went up, sang "I believe" and felt strength and power that they did not feel for a long time - the next day the security forces arrived and dismantled buildings in the outpost.

The move can be justified under common sense - "the settlers in the Chumash are there in violation of the law."

This statement is true, but it ignores the complex situation that currently exists in the territories of Judea and Samaria, in Jerusalem and in the cities involved.

The late Yehuda Dimentman studied Torah at Chumash, he was killed by gunfire when he was on his way home in captivity in Samaria.

When, eight days after the shooting, buildings in the Chumash are evacuated, there is a clear statement here towards those who rose up to kill us - "Continue to carry out attacks, it pays off for you. You will carry out attacks, we will fold."

The late Yehuda Dimentman,

Netanyahu did not build Chumash, he evacuated outposts.

Netanyahu found it difficult to fight terrorism, especially the Wall Guard, when the mixed cities became a battlefield and Jewish blood became the no man's land, but, at least the statements were clear - the right of the Jewish people to live in the Land of Israel.

There is no justification for harming a Jew.

Now, the statements are different.

Absolutely different.

When a member of the coalition claims that the cabinet meeting in the Golan Heights is a mistake, because it is occupied territory, when the budget of Ariel University was offset - there is a clear government statement here.

When Homeland Security Minister Amar Bar-Lev talks about "settler violence" with a senior American official, when there are no budgets to regulate the roads in Judea and Samaria, despite the horrific road accidents that take place there, the government declares - you settlers in Judea and Samaria and even in the Golan are undesirable.

You have no right to the land.

Your blood is no man's land.

Defend yourself.

PM Bennett // Photo: Mark Israel Salem,

Once we thought that actions should change, we hoped for a government that would act against terrorism with a strong hand and not wake up to act only when there is lynching or tension in the Gaza Strip, when even then, we did not always act with the force we hoped for.

We now hope that before the actions, the statements will be clear and not ones that could qualify the next security incident.

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
