In Baden-Württemberg, the number of proven corona infections has exceeded the one million mark.

As the State Health Office announced on Tuesday (as of 4:00 p.m.), 1,005,986 people in the southwest have been proven to be infected with the corona virus.

That is 6071 infections more than the day before.

Stuttgart - The number of deaths related to the virus rose by 61 to 12,911.

560 Covid patients are currently being treated in the intensive care units in the country.

That is two less than the day before.

The hospitalization incidence remained unchanged at 3.2.

The value indicates how many people infected with corona are admitted to a clinic within a week and per 100,000 inhabitants.

The nationwide seven-day incidence continued to decrease slightly by 1.9 to 210.5.

However, a delay in reporting is to be expected after the public holidays.

The spread of the omicron variant continues to increase in the southwest.

The number of cases transmitted to the State Health Office rose by 294 on Tuesday to 1274. These are both suspected cases and infections that have been confirmed by a full genome analysis.

The authority does not provide any information on the proportion of current suspected cases.

Of around 4,500 samples examined by full genome analysis last week (December 20-26), the Omikron variant was found in 6 percent.

The remaining samples were the delta variant.

In the previous week, the omicron proportion in the samples examined in this way was still 0.9 percent.
