The subway is late.

Instead of commissioning in December 2025, completion is now targeted in 2026.

In January, the felling work begins in the area surrounding the future underground line between Klinikum Großhadern and Martinsried.

Trees and bushes are being removed from an area of 40,000 square meters.

Martinsried

- The award of the contract for the main construction work is planned for August next year.

“From this point on, preparatory measures can be initiated.

The civil engineering work is expected to begin in 2023, ”says the latest status report, which was published in November.

Open design

The Federal Nature Conservation Act prohibits felling and clearing between the beginning of March and the end of September, so the construction site must now be cleared of disruptive vegetation.

The tunnel and underground station will be built using the cut-and-cover method, the area of the pure structure is around one kilometer long and on average 15 meters wide, which corresponds to 15,000 square meters.

However, the total area required to build the underground structures is 40 meters wide.

First, the trees and shrubs are felled.

The resulting wood is collected and transported away.

This is followed by the clearing and removal of the root stocks before nature conservation fences are put up.

According to Michael Brucker, Technical Director of U-Bahn Martinsried Projektmanagement GmbH & Co.KG, (PMG), the felling affected the individual trees along the footpath between the institutes on the Martinsried university campus and a strip of forest north of the route between the street Am Klopferspitz and the clinic.

"The ban forest south of the route is not affected by the felling," said Brucker when asked by Merkur.

The felling will be carried out in sections and should last until February.

The rootstock clearing is planned from April.

Delays

When Kerstin Schreyer, Minister of State for Housing, Building and Transport, and Bernd Sibler, Minister of State for Science and Art, visited the construction site of the P&R system for the future Martinsried subway station on the Life Science Campus of the Ludwig Maximilians University in May, It was said that the extension of the U6 would be put into operation with the timetable change in 2025/26, i.e. in mid-December 2025. However, there have been delays in recent months, also because of new findings on the groundwater level and because after the design competition for the future U- Station additional, technically required planning steps had to be carried out.

That is why PMG, which is responsible for the implementation of the project on behalf of the municipality of Planegg, is now expecting completion in 2026.

Parking deck construction site during winter break

Even with the P&R facility, which is being built as a deck over existing employee parking spaces at the university and is designed for 80 parking spaces, the schedule was not entirely adhered to. Completion was scheduled for autumn. Delivery difficulties for building materials could not always be compensated for by internal optimizations, both for metal and wood construction work, several rounds of tenders remained without offers. In addition, there have recently been temperatures around freezing point. As a result, for example, asphalt work, the installation of ramp heating and the laying of cables and lines did not take place as planned. The construction site is now in the winter break. As soon as the weather allows it in the new year, it should go on. Completion is scheduled for spring.

A full cost calculation should then be available in the second quarter of 2022.

At the moment there is talk of 168 million euros, of which the Free State will take over the lion's share and Planegg will incur around 6.4 million euros.
