She had heard mysterious cries for help from the forest.

An extensive police search followed - with a grim outcome.

One after the other: The employee of a senior citizens' residence in the west of Dortmund heard mysterious calls for help from a forest on Monday.

She called the police.

Your emergency call triggered a search mission lasting several hours.

The police also used a helicopter and sniffer dogs.

On the night of Tuesday (December 28th) the police stopped the operation.

It could not be determined who had called for help.

However, sniffer dogs accidentally discovered the skeletonized body parts of a man in the wooded area between the retirement home and the train tracks.

The search continued in daylight for the following days.

Who was the unknown man?

It is already clear that it is not Alexander Michael from Dortmund-Bodelschwingh who has been missing since October 29, 2021.

The 29-year-old is still missing.

According to the first findings of forensic medicine, the parts of the skeleton indicate a 40 to 45 year old man.

What is known about the man:

Size approx. 1.90 meters, age 40 to 45 years

He wore "Nirvana" brand camouflage pants in size XL and combat boots (size 44).

A plastic bag from the “Yormas” bakery, a cloth bag from the “Kik” company and a brown glass bottle were found near the site in the forest.

The Dortmund police are asking for evidence of a missing man to whom the above details apply.

Was it murder?

Forensic medicine is currently ruling out third-party negligence, the Dortmund police announced on Wednesday.

It is also still unclear how long the man has been dead.
