Director and Oscar winner Jean-Marc Vallée dies unexpectedly at the age of 58.
The cause of death is known.

Los Angeles - Great grief in Hollywood: Director Jean-Marc Vallée died at the age of only 58.
His death came as a surprise to his family, friends and colleagues.
According to US media reports, the filmmaker and screenwriter was found dead on Sunday in his hut outside Quebec City.
His spokeswoman, Bumble Ward, confirmed his death, but announced the cause of death.

. Colleagues, friends and fans expressed their sadness and admiration for the filmmaker on social networks. "My heart is broken. My friend. I love you, ”wrote Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon on Twitter. The world has lost one of the greatest “artists and dreamers”, wrote Oscar winner Laura Dern on a photo shared with Vallée on Instagram. Both actresses had shot the film "The Big Trip - Wild" and the US TV series "Big Little Lies" with him.
The "Big Little Lies" actresses Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley were also dismayed.
Woodley wrote on Instagram that she was totally shocked.
Oscar winner Kidman praised Vallée as the center of her “creative universe”.
He owes her some of her best filming experiences to him.
"His friendship, kindness and love were an inspiring force that I will carry within me," wrote Kidman on Instagram.
Director Paul Feig praised his colleague as an incredibly talented filmmaker.
His death was a "huge loss," he wrote on Twitter.

Vallée became internationally known with works such as the Oscar-winning drama "Dallas Buyers Club".
Vallée, who grew up in Montreal, celebrated his first major successes with the youth film “CRAZY - Verrücktes Leben” from 2005, in which his little son Émile also played.
The British period film "Victoria, the Young Queen" (2009) with Emily Blunt in the title role followed a few years later.
The final international breakthrough came with the biographical film drama "Dallas Buyers Club".
