The chairman of Yesh Atid and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yair Lapid, submitted the candidacy of former MK Dr. Ruth Calderon to the position of chairman of the Jewish Agency.
Calderon, an educator and Dr. Bible, served as an MK in the Knesset 19, and torch applied for the place of Minister Elazar Stern, who was supposed to be the consensus candidate of the government position but withdrew his candidacy in October following the storm pounding of complaints of sexual harassment when he was head of the FATHER.

Since Stern withdrew his candidacy, Lapid has tried to nominate a new candidate on behalf of the government for the position, but he and Prime Minister Naftali Bennett have not reached agreements on the issue.
As far as is known, Lapid is promoting Calderon's candidacy without a recommendation or consent from the prime minister, and it is unclear how this will affect her chances in the election.
The selection committee consists of 10 members, representatives of the Zionist Organization and Diaspora Jewry, and according to the agency's regulations, a candidate must win a sweeping majority of 9 out of 10 votes of the conference members to accept the position;
