More than a million infections around the world were identified yesterday (Tuesday) - a negative record from the outbreak of the plague, with the holiday season in the background and the spread of the contagious omicron variant, the American news site Bloomberg reported tonight.
Since the strain was detected about a month ago in South Africa, the number of cases per day in the world has stood at 841,000, so that with more than 1.44 million corona cases per day - there has been a 49% jump in the number of cases worldwide per month.
Studies have concluded that although the omicron infects as much as 70 more than other variants, the disease it brings with it is less dangerous, especially to those vaccinated in the booster dose.
However, the jump in the number of infected still affects hospital occupancy around the world, leaving those in need of medical care from other circumstances alone in the campaign.
Governments around the world are warning that infection rates and hospitalizations could skyrocket in the background of the holidays, ahead of the world's third year with the corona virus.

On the more positive side, death rates from corona worldwide have not increased significantly, with about 7,000 deaths a day - a drop from the data in the Delta Wave. Continued coping with the corona virus depends on changing the amount of deaths from the virus, or if the omicron wave turns out to be milder than its predecessors.
Meanwhile, around the world decided on new measures in hopes of stopping the spread of the virus. In China, a closure was imposed on millions of residents in the cities of Xi'an and Jinan; In France it has been announced that gatherings will be restricted in open and closed places, food and drink will be banned on public transport and that a mask must also be worn in open spaces. In Greece, too, the obligation to wear masks outside returned, and all Christmas and New Year celebrations were abolished. In Germany, a concentration limit of ten people was imposed among the vaccinated, and only two among the unvaccinated. Nightclubs will be closed, and sports competitions will be held without an audience.
In Corona-stricken Britain, on the other hand, it was decided not to impose restrictions before the holidays, and in South Africa it was decided that people exposed to verified Corona patients would not have to go into isolation or be tested if they did not experience symptoms.
