A curfew for unaccompanied minors under the age of 16 will be introduced in certain districts of Compiègne and Pont-Sainte-Maxence (Oise) on New Year's Eve, mainly to prevent urban violence, according to two municipal decrees that the 'AFP was able to consult on Wednesday, December 29.

The city of Compiègne "has
suffered for several months from urban violence, the acuity of which has been further heightened since November 2021, such as mortar fire in the direction of the police, three of whom were injured
", we can read in the municipal decree of the city of Compiègne. Minors "
increasingly young are involved in these disturbances to public order, particularly those aged 13 to 16
", adds the mayor of the City Philippe Marini in his decree. In addition, "
the current health context, with a significant circulation of the virus among young people, in particular in the department of Oise, encourages limiting large gatherings on the public highway
".

Thus, "
the circulation and parking on public roads of unaccompanied minors under the age of sixteen (...) are prohibited on the night of December 31
" from 10 p.m. until January 1 at 6 a.m. in several neighborhoods, notably the city center and the sensitive area of Clos des Roses.
In Pont-Sainte-Maxence, a similar decision was taken from December 31 to January 2 by the town hall after in particular "
the handrails of the municipal police
" concerning "
disturbances linked to fireworks shots
" and several brawls in October and November between young people from two districts of the city.
